A very simple and tasty feta-cheese pie
A friend of mine from Thessaloniki shared a piece of feta-cheese pie and it was so tasty I just had to ask for the recipe. She was kind enough to share it with me and also give me some advice how to make this really simple recipe. The secret… you can experiment with cheeses. And, well… I love to experiment in cooking. So I took the basic recipe, experimented with Greek and Cyprus cheeses (both soft and hard), and the result was so tasty!!!
But wait, it get’s better! It is really, really simple to do. The following ingredients are good for a 9x13 inch (22x30 cm) baking dish.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Greek yogurt (cow’s milk)
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup feta cheese, crumpled (or if you prefer a more light version use anari cheese)
- 1 cup grated kefalotyri cheese (you can use also halloumi cheese)
- 1/2 cup sunflower oil
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 3 eggs
Method
Preheat the oven to 350 Fahrenheit (180 Celsius). Grease the baking dish (I used a 9x13 inch Pyrex) with butter. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl using a wooden spoon or hand whisk. Poor the cheese mixture in the prepared baking dish and bake for 30 to 40 minutes.
That’s all!
Enjoy!
Note: Do not forget the secret…experiment with cheeses :-)
