Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor — “The Money Game” (including post-match updates)
One night! One fight! Las Vegas, Nevada, Paradise Valley! Here we go, ladies and gentlemen.

Yes, the most anticipated and awaited sports game of 2017 summer is a few hours away from starting. After more than 400 events held this year, UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) is ready to bring us a legendary event, the fight game between the greatest boxer of the last 25 years according to ESPN, the American king of ring, the one and only — Floyd Mayweather and the fast emerging 29 years old Irish MMA fighter, the only one who could challenge Floyd to get back from his retirement — Conor McGregor.

This fight is called “The Money Fight’’. Why? Because there are ~180.000.000 $ in the game for both fighters. Mayweather is expected to win over 100.000.000 $ and McGregor over 75.000.000 $.
Physical prize? Of course. The “Money Belt” made of Italian alligator leather is encrusted with 1.5 kg of 24-karat gold, 3.360 diamonds, 600 sapphires and 300 emeralds.

I know, when we look at the statistics and the background of the fighters we tend to believe the result is obvious. But let’s not rush and let’s get a clearer view about them.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. turned 40 this year which is more an advantage than a disadvantage. I’m talking about the experience, power and confidence gained from the 15 world titles and the lineal championship in four different weight classes. He is undefeated during his entire career with 49 wins and 0 losses.

The American boxer fought against former and current world titlists and lineal champions. This fact is only strengthening the stats mentioned. A disadvantage may be that he came back from his retirement just to fight with Conor McGregor, the only one who could make him come back, as he stated. Also McGregor’s stats (21–3) aren’t to be ignored at all.
Conor McGregor is 29 and he is an emerging fighter on all fields. He started his MMA career in 2008, winning in 2012 both Featherweight and Lightweight Championships in Cage Warriors competition. This was his ticket to UFC.

In 2015 at UFC Featherweight Championship, the same year when Floyd Mayweather won against Manny Pacquiao, McGregor defeated Jose Aldo in the first round with a knockout after only 13 seconds. It was the fastest victory in an UFC fight according to www.mmafighting.com, a record which is still standing.
According to metro.co.uk, Floyd Mayweather’s height is 5’8’’ while McGregor’s is 5’9’’. Floyd’s reach is 72", Conor’s is 74". Not to talk about the weight difference between them.
But again, everybody thinks all these are a major advantage for McGregor. I’m not saying no, I’m just saying that these numbers may be an advantage also for Mayweather. He moves a fraction of a second faster, he has more surface to hit over his opponent’s body and he can defend himself better. If he uses his experience and control of emotion at their maximum level, these skills and numbers will turn in his advantage.
Mayweather wants to finally end his carreer with a 50 to 0 score and McGregor wants to beat the best boxer from the last 25 years. It will be a very tight game.
If you ask me, I would bet on Mayweather’s victory. He had much more difficult opponents during his life as a boxer. I mean he won against world champions for God’s sake. McGregor may be emerging fast but this doesn’t mean he will be the only fighter who wins against Mayweather. Also if he loses, at least he loses in front of the best, so he’s cool. We’ll see.
I will come with updates on this post right after the game is finished so stay tuned!
Update after the game:
First images with McGregor before entering the ring. He is nervous. You can see this on his frozen face. You barely recognize him after all the episodes of arrogance.
Mayweather was very relaxed all the time before the game, visualizing his 50th victory. Just before entering the ring he was smiling and laughing like he was going to play a game and not to fight. TV commentators said that they have never seen him so relaxed before a fight.
Round 1/12: First round starts with McGregor throwing some fists at Mayweather, but Floyd defends himself without too much effort. In the rest of the round they studied each other rather than launching attacks.
Round 2/12: McGregor puts Mayweather in a corner in the first seconds but he is facing this attack again without issues and just like in the first round, they only put cautious hits in the game.
Round 3/12: In the beginning of the third round Mayweather is put on corner and clinched. After coming back in the middle of the ring, in a refreshing moment Mayweather receives an unexpected fist straight in the face. After a few seconds he gets punched again… and again… and again, McGregor going forward and Mayweather backwards. With McGregor clinching again and punching Mayweather in the back neck, the referee interrupts the game. Conor is starting to become more and more brave and daring and this only makes me realize that the tension on his face before the beginning of the game was actually deep focus.
Round 4/12: A straight hit received by Mayweather, a straight hit received back by McGregor. Just after that, Mayweather is hit under the belt two times I think and asks the referee to interrupt the game but he’s still receiving hits for entire seconds until the referee stops the game. Only a few clinches form the rest of the round.
Round 5/12: Many clinches are taking place in the beginning of this round with not so hard hits between the fighters and ooh, McGregor is caught on a wrong position and Mayweather sends him a rock left fist in the face and then another one. McGregor starts to use MMA attack and defencee movements and after the bell rings Mayweather pushes him aside. Now the match is becoming interesting.
Round 6/12: McGregor is attacking Mayweather with fists from behind, hitting his back and neck. Mayweather clinches him with his right arm up to his neck. I did not understand why McGregor did not hit him in the ribs right in that moment. The referee interrupts the game many seconds after that. The match continues and Mayweather sends a straight right fist in McGregor’s face, then another one followed by a right hook and another straight hit. Right after that he receives a surprisingly hit. They both laugh. Mayweather kisses his glove and gets back to work. The game gets more and more animated.
Round 7/12: Clinches, a few changes of straight hits from both sides and then again clinches. Fighters are trying to catch a spot to attack. McGregor tries a hit at the ribs and lets the guard down. Mayweather sees the opportunity and launches a few straight hits with his right arm. McGregor clinches again and hits Mayweather from behind. Floyd runs out of his mind and launches series of almost deadly hits towards McGregor and again, Conor uses clinches as the ultimate option. The bell rings at the same time with the interruption from the referee.
Round 8/12: McGregor continues from where he ended last round. His style is at such a low level that Floyd is overwhelmed by the moves which don’t have anything to do with boxing. Mayweather defends himself very good when the round restarts after interruption. He launches consistent attacks, safe and slow, walking McGregor all over the ring and sending him a straight shot from time to time. McGregor is overwhelmed and clinches again. After a few seconds Mayweather sends a powerful right hook and nothing significant happens after that until the end of round.
Round 9/12: McGregor starts tough and hits Mayweather in the face with his right fist and just after that he hits him under the belt. The referee, unsure though, interrupts the game at Mayweather’s remark. Just before the game starts again, McGregor sends a straight hit to Mayweather. Floyd laughs nervous but gets his focus back quickly and the round becomes very animated. McGregor is bombarded by straight hits and becomes weak. Straight hits and hooks are all over his head. Top speed of punches is the second name of this round. Conor hardly recovers in the short break.
Round 10/12: Clinches all around, McGregor is overwhelmed by the situation and yes, Mayweather finishes the game with a storm of powerful strikes! This is it, ladies and gentlemen. This is the end of a legendary game. The 50th victory of Floyd Mayweather with the 27th KO is happening right now.
