Alfred Russel Wallace
Graham Pemberton

A good start is to read what I have written here: and here: Wallace may have become a spiritualist later in life (earlier in life he was an atheist) but that shouldn’t detract from the amazing scientific work he did any more than Ronald A. Fisher devout Christian beliefs shouldn’t detract from the work he did! I see hypocrisy in people’s reaction to Wallace’s spiritualism — if he had been a convert to an established religion (Christianity, Islam etc) I doubt people would react much, if at all. These belief systems are in my view no better than spiritualism. And note that Darwin believed in a God until his dying day!
