How much gold is in the James Webb Space Telescope?
Ethan Siegel

There is a wonderful mining museum in Leadville CO with an extraordinary set of displays and exhibits — one of which discusses the properties of gold and its history. In addition to being malleable — one cubic inch can be extruded into a wire 5 miles long (or, apparently, used to cover a couple of Hubble telescopes) — gold is also rare. All of the gold ever discovered would barely fill a cube 20 meters on a side.
