For many, including myself, i have big dreams to travel the world and to see different cultures and experience new things. These dreams were cultivated most as i spent 2 years in different parts of the Philippines, learned their culture and language, and wondered to myself “what else is out there?”
This piece of writing has inspired me as to how i can fulfill that dream and also take on the other responsibilities that i have.
I assume that in order to make this work, you have to have a job that will work with you. That is one reason that i plan to be my own boss. I plan to work my butt off to become an orthopedic surgeon, and to open my own practice. I plan to pick my hours, make good money doing something i enjoy, and take off the time i want to when i feel the desire to travel.
I especially loved when it was written “Expect to be a traveler, not a vacationer.” We can’t expect to enjoy every minute of our travel, because travel, just as life, is completely unpredictable. Like was said in this piece, you can predict to spend 1 in every 7 days in non-ideal circumstances. That being said, you can expect to enjoy the other 6 days.
I enjoyed the quote by John Lennon: “Time you enjoy wasting isn’t wasted at all.” We need to make sure that we enjoy our travels, or we are wasting our time. We can’t be too busy hustling from one place to another without taking the time to enjoy what we’re doing.
