The Idea to move to the UK all sprang about after some flatmates of ours conjured up the idea, that they were to journey across to the opposite side of the globe, and try life in the United Kingdom. It was an idea, that, to my girlfriend and I, sounded like an exciting change we too wanted to make in our lives. Of course, like the people we are, we decided that we’d embark on this journey without much thought or planning, expecting the whole ordeal to be quite simple and straight forward. We learned it wasn’t, and I hope this article will shed some light on the process, the costs, and time it takes applying for the Tier 5 youth mobility scheme, and everything else that goes with it.

What is the Tier 5 youth mobility scheme?

The Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme is a working holiday visa for young people aged between 18 and 30. The Visa allows you to live and work in the UK for up to 2 years. So if you, unlike our flatmates, don’t have some relative with a UK passport making it easy to immigrate to the UK, this is your best bet at trying life in the UK.
