So when I look at today’s consumer mobile landscape, I see things like Pokémon Go becoming a fast phenomenon, and it’s clear that it’s not succeeding thanks to some radical new technology or new platform. People call Pokémon Go “augmented reality” but it’s really just a fairly simple superimposition of images on top of the camera display.

Thank you! As someone who works in AR / VR its been humorous to see how people have abused the term with Pokemon Go. The key for the product for me was that it mirrored the narrative and dynamics of the original game / show so well. You are wandering the world as much as the protagonist of Pokemon is. There are very few games adapted from established brands that can do that. Any way — great point on incremental improvements.
