How Do You Make Your Passion a Business? I’m Not Telling, I’m Asking

I’m passionate about lots of things. Crocheting, cooking, history documentaries. I’m passionate about the rights of babies, the importance of adoption, and that learning how to build a budget is a hell of a lot more important than calculus in grade school.

I see articles everyday on this site and others from entrepreneurs, business owners, artists, critics, foodies, and more who took their passions and made it their livelihood. And I applaud them. The old adage of “Do something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life,” sounds lovely until it’s time to pay rent and you realize playing Pokemon Go for a living may not be what you thought it would be.

So I am here to ask you, wise weirdos of Medium, to tell your story. You don’t have to give up the proprietary gleam from you childhoods inner eye, but I would appreciate down to earth personal info about how others made the journey. In fact I’m sure others would too. I’m starting that journey myself and as someone trained in research, it’s easy to get lost in the 3 Easy Steps To Success that costs 15.99$ and doesn’t actually tell you a damn thing.

Keep your business secrets, that’s not what I’m asking. Your time is valuable and I would never want something for free. What I am asking is this: Share your story. Share what passion led you to take the plunge. The hard parts, the ramen for six weeks but it does get better parts. An encouraging word for the next generation could do wonders for those of us back in the trenches, just starting out.

Our passions tell a story, they weave a web of full hearts reaching out to change the world.

Our passions tell a story, they weave a web of full hearts reaching out to change the world. My heart may be little, but it’s reaching out just the same. Thank you for those who have already been mentors to me, each little green heart makes mine feel warm. That the journey I’m starting and just beginning to catalogue, maybe just maybe can change the world.

Thanks <3
