The Winchester Foodie moves on…
It has been a brilliant 7 months of posting, liking, sharing, photographing, thinking, breathing all things food and Winchester.
All because 10 months ago I signed up to the DigitalMumsHQ social media marketing course. Why? Because Digital Mums were offering two valuable opportunities. First, the chance for women to retrain from scratch, with zero prior knowledge, in an area where there is a skills gap (social media marketing). Second, to come out job ready with the skills to be a freelance social media marketing manager, enabling us to work flexibly from home around family life.
Which is why in February, The Winchester Foodie was born. Running a live brand awareness campaign on several social media platforms was all part of the Digital Mums innovative live learning method. The next 12 weeks was spent creating and curating content, posting on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and engaging with an entirely new community. The amount of knowledge gained in the process was phenomenal (remember I came to this a complete novice) and in the process I connected with countless people online and offline as well as discovering so much about the thriving city of Winchester. It was a blast.
But now it is time for the next step which is to do what I have been so well trained to do, namely, social media marketing. I am setting up as a freelance social media manager under the name Heart Social, offering a range of services to help SMEs with their social media strategy and presence.
You may have noticed a change in The Winchester Foodie over the last couple of months, as I diverged from Winchester and food to a wider range of topics, including social media, startups, women in business, all in places further afield than Hampshire. This has been part of the transition and the rebrand.
The Heart Social logo and name are now ready, and will be rolled out on Monday. You will automatically move to the new platform when I make the switch. In the meantime, I’ll be spending this week looking back at some of the moments I most enjoyed as the Winchester Foodie. I hope you enjoy the restrospective and that you stay with me as Heart Social.
