Treat Dating Like Wine Tasting

Try different vintages, different sources, all good but not necessarily your to your taste!

Some are too sweet, others too full bodied, others give you a momentary tingle but no lasting satisfaction. Sometimes you find a wine that fits your needs for that moment — a month, a year, and occasionally for always. It seems to satisfy most of the circumstances and meals in your life. And it becomes your go-to.

So it can be with dating.

At best dating is an experiment that can be fun, at worst, it a tedious exercise or dismal let down. When it doesn’t work, we question ourselves and the process. Are we setting our expectations too high? What did you learn from that mis-date that you won’t do again?

Just like wine tasting, or any ‘sampling’ exercise, we need to know first, what’s important to you. What are your values? What do we need or want in all your relationships?

For instance if you like wine that is light, dry and slightly acidic, or a deep strong tasting grapey red wine, you will choose from the collection of those wines which start off in your preference group, and be able to choose one that is perfect for you at this time and place in your life — or dining table!

So, when it comes to dating, before even connecting for a date, ask if they have the same interests, values, and view of life as you do. Choose from the collection of people which start off in your preference group, then you’ll have more luck — and more fun — on your dating journey.

Remember it’s a sampling journey, not a chore. Lighten up and have fun with it. There some how-to hints here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3K2S-546P0

‘till soon. Georgina
