Wow — thank you Seth! I’m genuinely surprised that there is such strength of feeling about this. Not because I underestimated the effects of heightism at all, but that it’s just not something anyone ever seems to talk about. I’ve certainly got blank looks from people I know if I’ve tried to bring it up.

I raised the issue of the employment disadvantage — mostly affecting men. What I’m working through is the idea of institutionalised prejudice. Could anyone see a day when heightism requires legislation to address it in the same way as sexism and racism?
Heightism works by mocking and diminishing people. As I say in my piece, it’s bullying and the consequences are severe. These attitudes pointlessly impede people’s lives. However, I’ve not seen it turn into hatred in the way other prejudices do. Anyone any thoughts or experiences on this?
