Exactly. HR works for the COMPANY to protect the COMPANY from the employees. They will only act if there is risk they cannot contain. Good HR people understand who butters their bread; they know why they are there and it comes as quite a shock to newer HR people who get into the field because they want to “help people.” Nope; it’s just all about risk. Safety, training, staffing, etc. … risk containment.
