A Comment on Consumption
Rob Henderson

If you don’t consume voluntarily, you will be made to against your will. Rents increasing beyond reasonable; health care can now only be procured through health insurance which we are all now forced to buy from private corporations or face the threat of IRS fines; internet is now a necessary utility as is a smart phone; a college degree is now required to get a marginally decent job with corresponding high tuitions… it keep going on and on….

If there is a threat of consumption slowing in any sector of the economy, corporations will conspire with governments to keep us buying stuff we don’t need. It’s about wealth extraction and the pursuit of power that can be had for complicity. Capitalism is almost always at odds with democracy.
