Tech Jobs Are Everywhere

My career is a mash of tech, media and graphic design. I live in #Dayton #Ohio arguably the middle of absolute nowhere for any and each of these industries. And I get that complaint all the time from people in each of these fields.

Tech is in Silicon Valley; Graphic design and media is in New York City… there are no jobs except those places.

But that is never, never true! Sure, you may not do graphic design at an advertising agency or media at a network of tech at a trendy startup. You may not have a swanky title like Creative Director or App Developer or Executive Producer, but you’ll get to do a wider array of cool stuff than a more narrowly-defined job may not allow. There are jobs in these industries buried throughout the org chart in almost every company anywhere!

I was a training manager for Huffy and got to do all sort of cool media and cutting-edge digital video (1992) Later, I sold biomedical devices for ELA and got to create all the marketing media for the product line, even did the R&D for their Equine line. Then I was the page design artist for the NIE department of the Dayton Daily News and I got to design and deploy their first website and SQL Dbase. (I’ve since founded my own company and whoa, Nellie I got to do all sorts of jobs!!)

Tech jobs ARE everywhere. So is a job in almost every other industry. They may just be a bit camouflaged.
