To make such statements that display a lack of sport sophistication at an international event is, at best, quite boorish. Mr. Nichol’s wonders, “whether this action would have been taken against a male player or coach, who, in the heated moments after a frustrating defeat, questioned the tactics of the opposing team” is a poor attempt at deflecting responsibility from the coaching staff, the players and Solo.
I think the author’s premise for Hope Solo’s release from her contract may be a bit of an overreach…

So Make Soccer Beautiful Again? Dude, I’ve been in the soccer biz for several decades. The game has never been all that beautiful. It is rough and tumble where women get little to no respect; only in the past decade have they even been acknowledged as a “real” sport. I attribute that mostly to the young girls coming up who ain’t gonna take it any more. Hope Solo is on the bleeding edge of that.

So call it what you want, but it is way past time for women to get loud and boorish.

Lindsay Gibbs 👍👍⚽️ No matter what folks slide into the comments, you nailed it dead on. Soccer is a contact sport; sexist and ageist… unless you are on one of the many association or club boards, then it’s just sexist. ;) 👀
