Workshopping

I did something really dumb that sounded brave and exciting a few weeks back. I signed up for a writer’s workshop. I’ve never been workshopped before (unless you count the awkward, gangling crits of college English lit.)

The first class is tonight and I am quite unsettled. There are eight of us and the facilitator, Lily Brooks-Dalton, the author of this amazing memoir, Motorcycles I’ve Loved.

I prepared myself for the class by sitting on my bike for about an hour and just zoning out. I can’t ride and haven’t been able to for years… medical issues… but hope to soon. The consciously sitting still helped. Maybe it connected me, maybe it didn’t.

Will let y’all know how it goes.
