How much money would it take to make you feel rich?

The relation between money and dreams.

How much money would it take to make you feel rich?

This was the question asked on a radio station in Los Angeles last weekend. They invited the audience to participate and give their opinion on the topic.

After many unsuccessful attempts to get through to the station to participate in the conversation, I decided to make the question the basis for my first post in Medium.

I have asked myself this same question many times, and I would imagine you’ve probably too, at least once in your life (and if you haven’t, I urge you to reflect on the question for a minute, and find your answer before you continue reading). But even though I’d asked myself this question before, I never felt like I was able to arrive at a firm answer.
So is the amount of money really relevant to answer this question?
Maybe. Maybe not.

One of my mentors, Randy Gage, who’s also known as “The Millionaire Messiah”, teaches in his book, Risky Is The New Safe, the following truth: “if you ask the wrong question, the answer doesn’t matter.”
So even though I asked myself this very question hundreds of times before and was never able to come to a satisfying conclusion, I feel that this time I finally got it. Why? Because this time, I asked myself the right questions.

Okay, so let’s put our minds to work for just a minute.

The right questions:

  • How many of your dreams can you accomplish with the money you’re making now? If you don’t know the answer, it’s probably because another question must be answered first—the next one, perhaps.
  • Have you set yourself some daring goals in life and are you doing something to manifest them?
If the answer is “yes”, you can skip the next question.
If you said “no”, a deeper question may need to take place in your mind, and if you allow your inner self to respond to this one it could be the start of a whole new life. Let’s dig a little deeper into this in the next question.
  • What would it take for you to define and start pursuing YOUR passion, YOUR dreams in life, instead of just playing a part in someone else’s dreams? What would it take for you to start living your life, instead of watching passively as it goes by?

If you can find the answers to these questions, you’re likely to come to the conclusion that the first question, “how much money would it take to make you feel rich” doesn’t really matter.
Why do I say that?
Because think of this: if you only focus on the amount of money you would need, instead of being conscious of the importance of setting goals and maintaining focus on them, then, chances are, you’d never achieve it.

It may be hard for you to believe that is actually possible for you to make a big load of money, and this means that you probably won’t even attempt to do anything amazing to improve your life. You could be part of the 95% of the population who gave up on their dreams.

So what can you do about it?
Simple. Stop whatever you’re doing now for 5 minutes, sit down for a moment, and think which are those right questions you could ask yourself. If you pay attention, you’ll be astonished at the answers the real you will give you.

I’d like to end this post with three last questions:

  • Are you willing to commit yourself to defining your dreams and pursuing them with all your heart, mind, body, and soul?
  • Will you make the decision now to start living and stop merely surviving?
  • More important; are you going to let the victor inside you manifest all the greatness the Creator — or The Universe, Allah, God, Jehovah, or whatever superior force or energy you believe in — has provided you with to live an abundant and prosperous life?

The choice (happily) is always yours.

Have a great week and feel free to give me your comments and sharing this article if you liked it.
