Physical presence in the office does not at all prove mental or emotional presence. Our brains require sleep, rest and idle time to function and to be creative (there is plenty of research available; I really enjoyed Daniel Levitin’s “The Organized Mind” which is a great source of information on how our brains work).

Physical presence in the office does not automatically mean we are good leaders or managers. We need to spend time with family, friends and community to sharpen our ability to be empathetic, handle dichotomy and be realistic about ourselves.

From what Tom Ritchford says maybe Mayer would benefit from time out of the office?
