Wiesbaden — spa city in the heart of the Frankfurt-Rhine-Main-region
The state capital of Hesse, Wiesbaden is a spa city in the heart of the Frankfurt-Rhine-Main-region. With 15 thermal springs it is one of the oldest mineral spa resorts in Europe. The remains of the Roman settlement, particularly the so-called Heidenmauer, still speak of its Roman past. Wiesbaden has a population of 280.000 and is only a short drive from Mainz, the state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate, and Frankfurt, the biggest city in Hesse.

Neroberg
Neroberg with its fantastic view of the vineyards and Wiesbaden’s beautiful surroundings is situated 245 meters above the city. The nostalgic funicular railway from 1888 establishes a connection between the valley and the mountain and is one of the last of its kind. Neroberg offers a great variety of historical buildings, including Neroberg temple and a Russian church crowned with five golden domes. Moreover, a ropes garden gives the opportunity to experience nature.
Palace Square and Historical Pentagon
Palace Square or “Schloßplatz” is the mid-point of Wiesbaden’s historical core, called the “pentagon”, as it is framed by five roads. It is surrounded by the old market church (“Marktkirche”), the City Palace, as well as the old and the new City Hall. In the middle of the square, there is a historical marketplace fountain that was built in 1753. Together with its neighbouring terrain “Dern’sches Gelände” where the farmers market is held every Wednesday and Saturday it serves as venue for different occasions, including the annual Rheingauer wine weeks or the “Shooting Stars” Christmas Market.
Kaiser-Friedrich-Therme
Kaiser-Friedrich-Therme is built on the foundations of Wiesbaden’s ancient Roman sweat baths. It offers relaxation and the highest level of bathing luxury. The spa has preserved the essential features of the Irish-Roman bath with valuable ceramics and frescos. Original colours and restored decorations can be found in the Russian Steam Bath as well as the Roman Sudatorium, an ancient vaulted sweating-room, and Tepidarium, a warm bathroom heated by a hypocaust.
Kurpark
Kurpark Wiesbaden has been established in the style of an English landscape garden in 1852. Set in 18.5 acres, the beautifully planted garden features a pond which can be navigated by small boats. Two of Wiesbaden’s landmarks are located here: the Kurhaus with its rich history and the neo-baroque Hessian State Theatre. During the summer season, the park also serves as the backdrop for various rock and pop concerts.
Biebrich Palace
Located on the banks of the Rhine river, baroque Biebrich Palace served as a residence for the Dukes of Nassau from 1744 until 1866 it. The lovely palace garden is ideal for a stroll and or just to relax.
