In personal life, I am guilty of making very risky moves, and often gotten burned by them financially and time invested. I have created rules now to find a better balance, including sharing with someone I trust the decision I’m considering (which also means no impulse decisions) when over $500, and looking for options that have a low downside and a high potential upside.
