Digital India — Paving new inroads to Delight
The Digital India initiative by the Government of India is special in more than one way. It aims at taking digital across several layers of the society and empowering citizens with access to digital services. The aim is to achieve as much penetration of IT & digital services to the remotest corners of the country.
What does this mean to us? Quite a lot!
As the footprint of digital technology increases, more and more people would be seen in its fold. We are already seeing the impact of wearable technology in certain places in the world and it is just becoming an inseparable part of not just our lives but our bodies too! Thus, there will be a point when it won’t matter if it is a metro or a tier-1 or a tier-2 or a tier-3 city, digital technology will be all-pervasive.
Technology in retail, banking, hospitality, tourism, education and practically any vertical will remain no longer a good-to-have but a must-have. Brands without digital presence or a channel to connect with customers will soon be irrelevant. From an implementation standpoint, it will no longer be a challenge, bless familiarity since it’s going to be all-pervasive. It’s in the hands of the brands to put some serious focus and realize that it is something that cannot be overlooked.
Brands have this pressing need to adopt technology in their ecosystem across multiple touch-points and make customer experience as interactive & engaging as possible. We do see an increase in the use of technology in some specific verticals such as retail, banking etc. However, with other industries that are projected to grow such as healthcare & tourism, there is a long way to go.
We hope that the Digital India initiative will catalyze the adoption of technology in many more sectors and increased usage in the existing verticals. That will pave way to a lot more efficiency in rendering services, increased satisfaction levels among customers and at last, delight shall prevail.
