Welcome to this week’s ELIX update. We’ve been working hard on the ELIX checkout flow and are excited to share a video demo with our community! Keep reading to learn all the exciting details.

Explore ELIX

At ELIX, we support creators and sellers who want to share innovative ideas and novel products with the world. Start exploring campaigns and products on ELIX today here. You can even add your own in just a few minutes here by listing a product or crowdfunding campaign on ELIX.

Buying Products

We’ve been working hard to build intuitive checkout flows into ELIX. To keep our site simple to start, we’re focusing first on implementing a “Buy Now” feature. A feature like this is a potential precursor to Carts or supporting campaigns. Check out the video demo below to see how easy it will be to buy products on ELIX.

This week in development, our focus is on continuing testing payment integration with Stripe. We’re also pushing various miscellaneous changes including adding nofollow to view page social links, adding fields for Pinterest and Tumblr URLs to Profiles, and adding a more robust email validation pattern to better capture a few edge cases.

Checkout Designs

We’re continuing to work with the design team to expand and improve the designs related to buying products. In the Activity tab, we plan to show a list of contributions like orders and pledges. As we’ve shown in several other updates, Jane & Rosello have improved the Activity page to look like this:

If no contributions have been made (or no orders placed), one can expect a message like the one shown below.

We plan to support favoriting projects. For users who haven’t favorited any projects, designers have proposed the following design:

Messaging

Last week, we unveiled designs for our Messaging feature. Here’s some follow-up information on Messages with several new designs

Messaging is a planned feature allowing people to communicate with creators on our platform. Think of it as a helpful way to get more information or request a change to an order.

People will be able to send messages to creators and receive confirmation that their message has been sent.

Messages will appear in people’s Inbox: an easy way to manage and reply to incoming and outgoing messages.

For new users, they can expect to see a dialogue informing them that they haven’t received any messages yet.

That’s all for this week! Stay tuned for more ELIX updates and start exploring ELIX here.
