Can you spot the ‘Tortoise & Hare Story’ in this Designer’s Bags?
“I have never been beaten!”
The Hare boasted before the other animals. “I challenge any one here to race with me.”
Slowly and quietly, a Tortoise said, “I accept your challenge, Hare.”
“YOU? HA! That’s a good joke,” chuckled the Hare, “I could dance round you the whole way!”
“Keep your boasting till you’ve won,” answered the Tortoise. “Let’s race.”
A course was fixed and a start was made. The Hare darted out of sight almost immediately, but soon stopped to take a nap, showing his contempt for the Tortoise. The Tortoise plodded on and on, and when the Hare woke up, he saw the Tortoise near the finish line but could not run up in time to save the race.
Then, the Tortoise said, “Slow and steady wins the race.”

Designer and Founder of Gnome & Bow, Quanda Ong offers his bags as a means of carrying the story’s strong moral lesson to life’s races — be it at work, school, business, love, or even our hobbies.
See if you can spot the Tortoise & Hare story in his designs:
That’s right. The story is embedded directly onto the zippers of the bags with the pull tabs representing the Tortoise and the Hare, and the zip track representing their race course. The Hare’s zipper tab ends even before it crosses the ‘finish line’ — see image above.
Fancy a stylish clutch instead? The Folio series carries the story on its zips too, where the Tortoise is ahead of the Hare.
Even the wallets have the Tortoise and Hare logos placed in a similarly clever manner.
Ong’s design innovation has had Gnome & Bow’s The Hare & The Flying Tortoise collection featured in Esquire, Style: Men, Her World, Monocle, and Singapore Tatler.
