A Great Excuse To Make A ‘Cribs’ Video

An electrical fire breaks out at your house and destroys everything. Are you prepared to show the insurance adjuster everything you once owned?

It’s super important to have a full home inventory (preferably stored in the cloud) so you can prove what you lost in a moment of catastrophe. You certainly can, but we wouldn’t recommend doing an old school list written on a legal pad of paper.

A fun and very useful way to perform this home inventory would be to film an ‘MTV Cribs’ style video of your home walking thru your house from room to room.

As you film, make comments indicating what you own and how much its worth or what you paid, whether it’s top of the line Viking appliances or a vintage stadium seat from the old Tiger Stadium. Fill that video with as much detail as you can. Email it to yourself or store it in a safe place either online or off premises.

If you don’t know the value of your crystal collection, get it appraised. If you have a box of old sports card or memorabilia, perform a quick eBay search to find out the value.

This is a great (and fun) way to be prepared in the event of a homeowner’s disaster.
