5 Ways to Get Your Photos Purchased

We often get asked, what makes a buyer choose a photo? We’re here to answer those questions. The photos we’ll be featuring in this post are all from our recently purchased page on Snapwire. Check that page out if you’re ever in need of some inspiration or just want to see what our buyers are interested in.
- Read the Creative Brief: It may seem obvious, but reading the creative brief thoroughly is one of the best ways to optimize the likelihood of your photo being purchased for a challenge. If the brief is asking for two females, sitting outside, with drinks, make sure that you capture each component. Often times, good photos get passed over simply because they do not match the brief.
2. Keep it Simple: Simplicity is key in the stock photo world. Allow the buyer to customize the image for their usage by leaving screens blank or shooting against plain backgrounds.
3. Create Unique Framing: The manner in which you frame the image can make a world of difference to the buyer. Images that look like they have been taken a thousand times will often get passed over immediately. By framing an image in a unique way, you are automatically making your photo more interesting and more usable.

4. Use natural light: To produce some of the highest quality photos, using natural light is your best bet. One, you don’t have to worry about carrying around unnecessary equipment because all you’ll need is your handy camera. Two, what you see is what you’ll get. Using natural light will assure that you’ll know exactly what your photo will look like. Lastly, if you make the best use of it the direction of the light can enhance your images and give them more depth.

5. Have fun!: This is the most important step in getting your photos purchased. These photos are a representation of your craft and what defines your style. Have fun with it! Go an adventure and take photo of places and people that strike your interest. Creating a niche for yourself will help grab more attention to your photos.
