As you may know, not all rebuilt engines are created equal. As with everything, you get what you pay for. The California Bureau of Automotive Repair and similar agencies in other states maintain no standards for what constitutes a “rebuilt engine”. It can be as little as a teardown, inspection and reassembly, with no machining and no new parts replaced if everything “looks O.K.” The amount of new parts and machining in a rebuilt engine can vary by as much as several hundred dollars from one rebuilder to another. Let’s face it, anybody can rebuild an engine cheaper, but the ultimate life of the engine may be reduced by as much as 75%.
For each machining process, we have chosen the best possible piece of equipment to handle the job. Our case align boring is done on one of several Rottler boring machines to insure maximum accuracy of the bore diameter and alignment. Poorly align bored cases done with various hand held fixtures are a major cause of low oil pressure.
