Casper Ruud is a professional tennis player from Norway. He made his pro debut in 2015. In his first year as a pro, he made the Norwegian Davis Cup team, and went on to reach the group three European Zone. His success continued, and he won five ATP titles. In addition, he reached the semifinals of the Wimbledon Boys’ Doubles and reached the third round of the US Open Boys’ Singles.

In 2016, he reached the third round of Roland Garros and the US Open, and was the №1 junior in the world when he was 16. In 2017, Ruud’s father, Christian Rasmussen, stepped aside from coaching to give him more time to focus on the game. Pedro Rico had been Casper’s primary coach, but was unable to continue coaching the young athlete, so his father took over.

Despite his young age, Ruud has made big moves since he first entered the sport. In 2016, he reached his first Grand Slam main draw. He defeated Quentin Halys in the first round at the Australian Open. In 2021, he reached the third round at the US Open. In 2022, he reached his second Grand Slam final, losing to Carlos Alcaraz in four sets. His career-high ranking was No 2.

Ruud’s career has continued to grow. His recent triumphs include a 2–0 victory over Dominic Thiem in the ATP Cup Finals, and a runner-up finish at the 2019 Chile Open. He is also ranked №13 on the ATP World Tour.
