I’d love to see this happen. But the crisis of civic disengagement that has brought us to this dangerous precipice must be reversed while we still have a chance. Demonstration will have been a failure if we don’t use our power and rights (while we can) to bring about political and policy change. Citizens need to become civically active, educated, and engaged locally and nationally. We won’t change this broken and corrupt system by staying home on election day, like the 45% of eligible voters (including 15 million super environmental voters) who didn’t show up for the 2016 elections.
Some say voting is the most important thing you can do. Bullshit. It’s the floor; it’s the minimum you can do as a citizen. If you understand the urgency and seriousness of the climate crisis and you want to join thousands of climate heroes in advocating for bold climate policy, join CitizensClimateLobby.org. A week from now, over 650 CCL volunteers from across the nation will descend on Capitol Hill (CCL’s small lobby day) to ask our members of Congress (both Ds & Rs) to cosponsor the EnergyInnovationAct.org. And we will thank the 68 MOCs who already have.
