IN… PERSON AND THE DROP

Due to busy routine at University and home, I was not even sure about doing the in person drop, so I honestly framed it as impossible. But then I thought about coming out of comfort zone and going the #extramile by obviously skipping university classes and leaving behind the projects I had in University. which I am obviously not so proud of. I decided to visit the office of Dupont Pakistan, as the company happens to be my latest crush and I really admire how they are working for the farmers. I did online research on the company and made my CV accordingly, though I have not yet completed my degree, I tried my best to not give them absolute crap. After doing the online research, I tried to find out the name of the HR manager, which I could not. I only knew name of CEO and the HR leader.

So, with passion, well written freshly printed soothing CV, prepared mind for failure and my heart I went to the company. The journey was not so comfy, because I did not know the place. Weather turned worse and it rained but after all I got to the lane where company was. I was looking for someone who can tell me the exact address. I saw a person, wearing grey shirt and light colored pants with slightly bald head, he was looking professional I thought ‘ he will know’, he was probably going to his office, I went towards him and asked about where the Dupont office was. He said come with me I am also going there. Oh! I was amazed and happy and excited, I thought maybe he would know HR as he works there. I chatted with him along the way and he told me that he is the IT specialist at Dupont. I asked about online job portal and got some insight about that. I really owe him the favor, because of him I got into the office and passed by the security guards easily. Then came the real thing, I was so nervous obviously, I have never been to any company office before, I entered and found the reception, the receptionist was a well mannered stubborn man!. After introducing myself, I asked him I wanted to meet HR and he obviously said I cannot. I did not quit arguing and went on trying and even told him about my project, I was just trying to get him by my side. Admin manager of Dupont was passing by and he asked what is the matter, I told him and he said I may drop CV. I cleared I am here for in person drop. He said I might have to wait for hours I had no option I guess. I waited for hours some four hours, HR never came, due to rain he was not able to come to office. Meanwhile, I noticed the company culture, I also found out the name of HR, I did research on company and HR again. I got to know that I knew so less earlier. I now have a lot of new in sights about the company. I do not consider it as a failure although I had to skip my lab classes at university and I payed for the Uber ride as well but it was indeed not a failure, it was an experience which I will remember. I messaged HR at his linkedIn profile, I wrote a super note and mentioned that I will come again, friend of mine also did the same thing so I just used that idea. I dropped CV at reception.

so here are the important things; I came out of my comfort zone, I hate to dialogue but I talked and argued with so many people, I skipped my dear university, I waited for long time and used that time well, I met with IT specialist and the Admin manager.
