Neither Romm nor Franken made any referral to your point Magruder. However, the recent temperature “increases” referred to by both of those warmists, looked at in 5 year periods, as NOAA did, show warming in the 0.01 to 0.02 range (2000 to 20005, 2005 to 2010, 2010 to 2015). the only variations were El Nino years, when the oceans warmed a bit!
I’m sure you know what NOAA (and NASA) use for their margin of error, but just in case, it’s 0.13 for land based temperatures and 0.17 for ocean temperatures! In essence, using NOAA’s own data… there has been no real warming!
We are closing in on the (so called) record temperatures of the 1930’s, which falls nicely into the climate cycles easily seem in the past.
As we are fortunate to live in one of only two time periods of the past 600 million years, when both temperatures and CO2 are/were this low… together, it’s difficult to get excited about the left’s income redistribution plan, when they are so dishonest!
This is explanatory… and should make interesting reading for the lemming and the few others who have been duped by the Democrats… I mean leftists… in our political system!
At least these two Socialist/communists are being honest. That’s more than our lying President has been! Notice that this interview has been available to the media since 2010 (in the case of Dr. Enderhofer) and as recent as late last year (UN Climate Chief Figueres).
Or as UN climate chief Christina Figueres candidly remarked, the true aim of the recent Paris climate conference was “to change the [capitalist] economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution.”
At a news conference last week in Brussels, Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.’s Framework Convention on Climate Change, admitted that the goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity but to destroy capitalism.
“This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution,” she said.
Referring to a new international treaty environmentalists hope will be adopted at the Paris climate change conference later this year, she added: “This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history.”
The only economic model in the last 150 years that has ever worked at all is capitalism. The evidence is prima facie: From a feudal order that lasted a thousand years, produced zero growth and kept workdays long and lifespans short, the countries that have embraced free-market capitalism have enjoyed a system in which output has increased 70-fold, work days have been halved and lifespans doubled.
Figueres is perhaps the perfect person for the job of transforming “the economic development model” because she’s really never seen it work. “If you look at Ms. Figueres’ Wikipedia page,” notes Cato economist Dan Mitchell: Making the world look at their right hand while they choke developed economies with their left.
