Ingredients

1⅔ cups infatuation

1 teaspoon guilt

¼ teaspoon shamelessness

½ teaspoon youthful naiveté

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons disjointed memories

2 worn photographs

½ cup nostalgia

3½ months of summer, ripe with warmth

2 tablespoons relived heartache

1 teaspoon unspoken words

⅔ cup proprietary fragrance blend: the remembered smell of his neck, incense, cigarette smoke, bodies

Directions

Turn long-term memory to the ON position. Cover the basement of your mind with an old, soft sheet, or whatever you have available.

Sift together the infatuation, guilt, shamelessness, and youthful naiveté; set aside. In a separate bowl, carefully combine disjointed memories and the photographs until you achieve more coherence. Drizzle in nostalgia. Add summer, relived heartache, and unspoken words. Fold in the first four ingredients, along with the proprietary fragrance blend. Mix well and pour into your consciousness, slowly, using a funnel. Bake until golden. Do NOT overcook.

Note: You may freeze any unconsumed portions. That said, they will not taste quite the same. Also, please be aware that any substitutions (e.g., willfully altered memories) will significantly change the recipe.
