Let your actions be the microphone for your message

Today at church, there was a friend of ours that was giving a presentation on service and on the different ways that we could help others through various projects and charities.

During her presentation, she was using a microphone so that everyone could hear her, and for the first time, I thought about how the microphone doubles the sound of our voice to make it louder.

I know that it seems kind of stupid that I just made this connection at 26 years old, but it hit me in such a powerful way.

It then led me to compare it to the sayings “Actions speak louder than words” and “Talk is cheap”.

I think the reason for these sayings is because whenever someone tells us to do something we immediately question them and think “Have you been doing this too?”. If we believe that the person extending the invite isn’t following it themselves, then we are less likely to do it too.

That is why you must first try the invite yourself before extending the invitation to act.

When we act on a principle or teaching. that we want others to practice, it will be shown in our confidence and explanation of the concept. For example. If you work at something and practice it, you have stories of how it has changed your life and how it can change others. It gives you confidence and credibility to inspire others.

You also never know who is watching. Anyone can say that they practice something but if someone sees them do the opposite then their credibility is lost.

Obviously these concepts are deeper than I am describing, but I don’t want to take up too much time and/or risk losing the point of my message, which is as the Bible says: “….by their fruits ye shall know them.” (Matthew 7:20).

Put in the time to learn and practice something before you share it with others. Once you do, the message will be heard loud and clear, not just by your words, but by the confidence and conviction shown through your behavior, conduct, and character.
