Every year the number of social businesses increases. Not just social businesses, but overall companies are joining forces with organizations to establish social initiatives. This number especially peaks on Christmas, since its a holiday of spreading joy and kindness around us. Not only companies have the urge to give back on Christmas, but so do socially responsible people. So it kind of makes a perfect match, people can buy presents from socially responsible companies and together with them donate to noble causes.

Christmas is about giving back, giving back to nature, giving back to people who really need our help, and these are the 5 socially responsible gift ideas that are nearest to my heart and I believe you will love it too.

  1. Surfshark VPN and Surfrider Foundation are here to clean the oceans

Cheering up for free and anonymous internet is great, but donating to cleaning up the oceans of our beloved planet is entirely different. This year Surfshark and Surfrider Foundation unite to fight the plastic pollution in the oceans. You can join by donating a chosen sum of money for the cause, and Surfshark will double that sum and give it to Surfrider. At the same time, you can get a present for yourself or your close one — Surfshark VPN with a special deal for concerned citizens- 1,99 dollars per month. It is a match made in heaven, you get to fight for net neutrality with Surfshark and at the same time fight for clean oceans and save thousands of creatures. See the donation and special deal here.

2. What if socks could save the world? — Stand4Socks

This social business is all about socks and spreading joy through them. Stand4Socks currently supports 11 out of 17 sustainable development goals. By buying colorful socks (or just simple ones) you can support various causes from giving a pair of socks for homeless people to building schools. Every sock has its own cause, that you support by buying the specific pair. I personally am amazed by this social business, they take a simple thing like socks, which everybody uses and needs, and by buying them people are also doing good deeds for those in need. These socks aren’t just “socially-responsible” but also very comfy. Watch for the Christmas sales going on in this page and choose your socially responsible socks here.

3. Ethical phones changing the world

A better phone is a phone made better. This phone brand does everything to revolutionize the phone industry, their products are made with a long lasting design, fair materials, in good working conditions and are reusable and recyclable. The creators of these phones want to start a discussion about outsourcing “cheap” labor to third world countries and their local working conditions. They want to show all the steps and by that inspire people to choose products that are made in an ethical, sustainable and socially responsible way. Talk about leading by example! Check these phones and buy them here. They are actually not that expensive and by buying them you support ethical businesses. Together with them, we can change the way products are made.

4. Clean the oceans with 4ocean

Another product vouching for clean oceans, which is actually a very sensitive and important topic right now. This business is all about the oceans and cleaning them. By mainly selling beautiful minimalistic design bracelets, from recycled material, most of the money from purchases goes to cleaning the ocean. People by buying one bracelet clean 1 pound of trash from the ocean. If this isn’t a socially responsible gift that everybody should consider giving on Christmas I don’t know what is. You can read more about this brand and get their bracelets here.

5. KippeoCycle supporting Tanzania Children

KippeoCycle is all about supporting education and local people in Tanzania. They sell heartwarming T-shirts made in Tanzania schools by pupils. In their web page, they present every stage of the process, from making a t-shirt design in schools to picking biologically grown local material in Tanzania. This company both supports local businesses in Tanzania and buys schooling materials from money collected from sales. All the products and information about this initiative you can find here.

This Christmas you can make your close ones happy with your attention and gifts, also join social movements and make your impact on our planet earth, help people that really need it, and make their Christmas memorable and warm. You can find many socially responsible gifts on the internet, these are my favorite and the ones that I’m getting these Christmas.
