The war in the browser

You’re one tab away from your competitor

We all like tot think that our product beats the competition an we’re on the right track with our development. We miss out on a lot of things when we do so and at times we forget that our user is a pretty educated fella that can make a decision for himself.

We highlight features and we optimise buttons. We find new ways to get him on our page and ways to make him stay. Well, a lot of times we’re missing the point and we’re failing at the most basic thing: Showing the user our product, giving him easy access to it so he can decide if it’s the best choice for him.

When you’re looking for a product or service, you need to start using it as soon as possible with the best end results (based on your interests). Users will search and find alternatives easily. Savvy users will look at the same time at your competitors and if signing up over there is easier and they get to use the product faster they will flee.

Want to be better?

Give me your product, or demo, or fast signup that works. if it’s worth it and you create a good user experience I’m already hooked. Acquisition is no actual secret, activation and retention is key. So why not win me over from the first moments when I’m using your product?

Spreecommerce allows me to start a shop in a couple of seconds. I love that. An spreecommerce is an ecommerce CMS based on Ruby on Rails. A pretty complicated product to test, right?

Even if you have an invitation based system it’s important that you give your possible user a glimpse of your product so try using even a demo account or a fast show of what the product can do.

You can use these early users in isolated test scenarios and see how they perform, what they use and how. Read more about the 10x product launch, customer dev, lean practices etc

I don’t care about using it in a week, I’m the user and I want it now.

… meanwhile, I’ll go back and wait for my same.io invite. I wanted to share my screen with a co-worker the fastest way possible and it turns out that I have to wait o.O
