Hey everyone! It’s been an incredible three months at TIIDELab, and I’m excited to share the latest chapter of my journey with you. If you haven’t caught up on the previous steps, be sure to check out my last blog post here to stay in the loop. Now, let’s dive into the adventures of month three!

Advanced JavaScript and New Horizons:

In our ongoing JavaScript sessions, we’ve embarked on a profound exploration of advanced concepts that elevate coding to new heights. Unveiling the intricacies of local storage, callbacks, promises, and event loops, each topic has enriched my coding repertoire with a layer of sophistication.

While the learning curve posed its challenges, the rewards were immense. I take pride in the multitude of simple projects I’ve been able to craft, showcasing the practical application of the knowledge gained. Among these projects, I’ve developed a straightforward yet engaging game of rock, paper, and scissors.

Moreover, I’ve dedicated time to sharing my understanding of various JavaScript concepts on my YouTube channel. In one such session, I delve into explanations that illuminate these concepts, providing a valuable resource for fellow learners. Feel free to explore the session by clicking here, and join me in this enriching journey through the realms of advanced JavaScript.

Change of Venue and Learning Critical Thinking:

Our physical meetups found a new home in Gudu, which, although smaller and a bit farther from me, didn’t dampen the excitement of our first development class there. Mr. Shams led an enlightening session on critical thinking skills for emerging software engineers, using the “thinking hats” approach. Plus, toasted bread made its debut, adding a touch of fun to our learning experience.

I represented the red hat on the short playlet that day 😂

Model Nations General Assembly and Representing Mauritius:

TIIDELab celebrated its 4th Model Nations General Assembly, and I had the honor of representing the lovely people of Mauritius. Despite being unable to attend physically due to health reasons, the online experience was fantastic. Delivering a speech on rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity tested our public speaking, research, and development skills in the best way.

Mentorship with Mr. Ige:

Our interactions with our direct mentor, Mr. Ige, have been invaluable. His warm and experienced coaching style made each meeting feel refreshing. In just two sessions, he shared insights on optimizing our LinkedIn pages, navigating job searches, collaborating on GitHub, and participating in open-source projects. A one-on-one meetup allowed me to address my areas of improvement, and his advice was incredibly helpful.

BITMEDICS Project and Brown Bag Success:

Working with my team on our BITMEDICS project has been a highlight. We geared up for our brown bag session in Lagos, and the experience was nothing short of awesome. Our project kept evolving, and the learning curve has been steep but incredibly fulfilling.

Gratitude and Acknowledgments:

A massive thank you to TIIDELab, our sponsors @ITF and @NECA, our mentor Mr. Shams, our JavaScript coach Mr. Kenny, my incredible team @BitMasters, and my supportive coding partner @Uthman Dantata. Your support and guidance have made this journey unforgettable.

Conclusion:

As I reflect on these three months, I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunities to learn, grow, and collaborate. Stay tuned for more updates and exciting developments in the next steps of my TIIDELab adventure! Thanks for reading, and until next time!
