Like most internet users, we want short form videos with unimaginable quality, the lowest file size possible, with consistency and compatibility across browsers and terrains.

We’ve made it our mission for the past 6 months, to develop, test, and iterate on a revolutionary new video file format that will change the way we consume media. Our lovely users in 🇮🇪 Ireland 🇮🇪 have been kind enough to beta test our work, and slowly but surely everyone in the world is consuming our content.

We’d like to introduce the new form of video content… the .potato.

Potato quality, as it’s commonly referred to, is an internet phenomenon that has been circulating since 2008. Never before have you been able to consistently make .potato videos.

Our friend awaffleduck describes the joy of potato quality videos

⚠️ The pronunciation of .potato is currently undecided. You say potato, I say potato. You say gif, I say gif — but be sure, the .potato will be everywhere.

For a limited time only, go to gifs.com, and upload any video media URL — think Vine, Instagram video, Youtube, etc. Using our transcoding and editing API we’ll create a visually stunning .gif, .webm, .mp4, and of course, our new .potato.

Create a gifs.com account to cultivate your short video media collection.

It’s spudtacular.

love the .potato? feel free to heart and share your little potato mind out
