The easiest way to buy $DINU — A detailed guide to help you dive into the world of ERC-20 tokens.
Note: This is not financial advice. This is for educational purposes only. Please note that cryptocurrency is a highly volatile asset class; only invest what you can afford to lose.
This information can be applied to any ERC-20 tokens listed on Uniswap.
As a newly launched meme token, one of the most common questions directed at the @dogey_inu Twitter is “How do I buy $DINU?”. As the project grows and the cryptocurrency community as a whole, less tech-savvy people are trying to get their hands on this ERC-20 token.
The ultimate goal of any meme token is to onboard as many people into crypto as possible. Each and every person can have their own “flavor” of meme token. Why memes? Ordinary people don’t want to read a paper about cutting-edge tech. They want to have a laugh and see their investment appreciate in value.
What is Ethereum and what are ERC-20 tokens?
I feel it’s easiest to describe Ethereum as a general blockchain, just like Bitcoin with one important added function. That function is the ability to store a program that anyone can interact with on-chain (smart contract). These smart contract functions are tokenized; this is where you have an ERC-20. It’s just a token designed to function within certain parameters in a program on the Ethereum network.
What is Dogey-Inu?

The easiest way to buy $DINU is to first acquire Ethereum. ALL transactions on the ETH network require you to pay fees in ETH. Eth is most easily obtained by either creating a Coinbase account or buying directly through Metamask.
Buying ETH on Coinbase:
Buying ETH on Metamask:
Now that you have some ETH in your Metamask or Coinbase account close it out and open Trust wallet.
Now you just need to get your ETH address from Trust. Open Trust wallet up and click “receive”. This will open up a QR code. Next, click “copy” and head back to Coinbase or Trust wallet. (If Coinbase)Click on your portfolio and click “Send”. Paste in the address you previously copied from Trust and you should be good to send it (sometimes the network becomes congested and it takes a few minutes — in times of extreme congestion this can take up to half an hour).
Re-open Trust wallet and it should have the ETH you just sent over. Now we can begin the process of transferring it into DINU. As said before, remember to always keep some ETH in your wallet as it’s the only way you can swap later down the road.
Buying Dogey-Inu on Trust Wallet
- Tap the top right “sliding knobs” icon in Trust wallet
- Search “Dogey-Inu”
- Enable it (it will slide the button and turn green)
4. Hit “Done” and it will return you to the main screen in Trust wallet.
Head back to the main page. Tap on the quadruple-dot icon on the bottom taskbar. If you’re on Android, it should say “dApps.” If you’re on iOS, you’re likely missing this icon (Apple doesn’t like decentralized apps). In order to get it, open Safari and type “trust://browser_enable.” A prompt will appear with the following message: “Open this page in ‘trust’?” Tap “Open.” The four-dot icon should appear with the word “Browser.”
Tap on the four-dot icon and tap on “Uniswap Exchange.”
Tap on “Select a token” and search for DINU in the search bar. Click on “Import.”
Tap on the “Max” button, which will input all the ETH in your wallet.
Next, select “Swap” followed by “Confirm Swap.”
You’ll get a message that says, “You don’t have enough Ethereum (ETH) to cover network fees.” You’ll be shown the cost of the network fee. Take note of it and subtract it from your ETH balance. In the example below, the network fee is 0.0585518758 ETH. Subtract that from your balance (0.08472432 ETH); you’ll get 0.0261724442.
Tap on “Cancel” and replace the ETH amount with the number that subtracts the network fee (e.g. 0.0261724442). Again, click on “Swap” followed by “Confirm Swap.”
Congrats! You’ve successfully bought Dogey-Inu!
Converting your ETH into DINU on Metamask
This is a much simpler process than trust wallet which, I may add that I have never quite been a fan of.
You show have the ETH in your wallet if you purchased directly through Metamask. If not and your ETH is on Coinbase simply use the same process as before to transfer. Copy your wallet address in Metamask by clicking on it where it likely says “account 1” with an address below it. Paste that into the send function in your Coinbase account/wallet.
Mobile
Click the menu and go to “browser” while in Metamask.
Go to Uniswap.org Click on “app” if on the main page (this will take you to the swap page).
If on the swap page already be sure the first token is ETH. Click on the “Select a token” below it.
Paste in the Dogey-Inu contract address: 0xbb1ee07d6c7baeb702949904080eb61f5d5e7732
It will give you a security warning as it’s currently unlisted. Read and then click Import.
Click connect to wallet. Metamask will ask you to accept.
Now you can type in the # of ETH you’d like to swap for DINU. Many people will hit MAX but this may prevent you from transacting in the future unless you buy more ETH and send it to your Metamask.
You usually will have to approve the spend of every token one time, if it is your first time spending that token. Approving costs a small fee.
Now you will be able to swap your ETH for DINU.
Transactions on the Ethereum network sometimes take up to 30 minutes depending on network congestion.
Upon swapping, it will ask you if you’d like to import this token to your wallet. Accept. This will allow you to see your balance from your main wallet page in Metamask. If you accidentally ignore or close this window out, simple go into “wallet” while in Metamask and scroll down. Click “add token”, click “Custom Token” on the top right, and paste in the contract address below:
0xbb1ee07d6c7baeb702949904080eb61f5d5e7732
You should now be able to see your DINU balance in Metamask. It may not display the dollar value. If you’d like to track there are many ways to do it, but many will simply go back into Brower > Uniswap > Select DINU as the first token and USDC as the second and select MAX on DINU next to the “balance” text below the token. USDC is pegged to $1 so that should be the best way to see what you could sell your tokens for (you should probably just hodl though)
Web Extension
This is likely the easiest way to do so overall.
Download the browser extension from https://metamask.io/
Write down and store your seed phrase in a safe place (this is your master password)
Send your ETH from Coinbase or whatever CEX you use to this wallet by copying your metamask address and pasting it into the exchanges send function.
Go to https://app.uniswap.org/#/swap
Set ETH to the first token, and then click “select token”
Paste in the Dogey-Inu contract address below:
0xbb1ee07d6c7baeb702949904080eb61f5d5e7732
It will give you a security warning as it’s currently unlisted. Read and then click Import.
