gigaaa in 2030
Today is November 1st, 2018 and another week has passed by so quickly, and that it’s hard to believe that in two months the year 2018 is over. The older we get the more it feels like time is passing by faster and faster. In less than 15 months the next decade is starting, and the coming decade will bring us changes that mankind has never experienced before in such a short time. I would like to give you a little outlook on the connected world in 2030 and an explanation why every person on this planet will own an AI personal assistant. One of my favorite movies is Back to the Future, when Marty McFly travels from 1985 to the year 2015. Immediately the soundtrack of this movie comes to my mind with a song by Huey Lewis & the News when they sing:
“Don’t need money, don’t take fame, don’t need no credit card to ride this train
It’s strong and it’s sudden and it’s cruel sometimes, but it might just save your life”
Now try to imagine that we have a Time Machine and travel to the year 2030, which is in 12 years from now. How will our reality look like in 2030? Well, one thing is for sure; we will be 12 years older and when we look in the mirror we will not see dramatically big differences since people know and care so much more about their health.
But everything around us will look so much different that nobody can even imagine how different things are going to look like in 12 years.
Because of the simple access to the Internet and the growing size of information, the world is more transparent, and people have faster and better access to the latest trends and innovations. Innovation cycles become shorter and shorter. Global competition in the economy is getting bigger so that companies will deliver innovations much faster than we have seen in the past. Just to name a few of it:
- No more cash — only cashless payments and crypto money
- Biometric User Identification — no more ID cards to carry and passwords to remember
- Cheap and clean energy thanks to more efficient renewable energy technologies
- Cars running on fossil fuels will be banned from cities because of pollution restrictions
- Energy saving batteries
- Unmanned vehicles
- Drone parcel services
- Unmanned taxi drones
Yes, just take a look at YouTube and you will find tons of commercial videos showing how we will fly with drones. Thinking of this vision a song comes to my mind by R. Kelly that says:
“I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day, spread my wings and fly away”
And of course, as I’ve mentioned in my first blog post two weeks ago, we will not use smartphones anymore. Why do I think so? Very simple. Because every device will be smart, and we don’t need to carry another device with us, when we have a smartwatch, a smart wristband, smart glasses, smart earphones, smart rings, smart jackets, smart belts, and we will have access to our AI Personal assistant in the cloud. Via most connected devices in the city, we will be able to speak to our AI assistant.
We will talk to our AI assistant in driverless cabs, we will speak to it through advertisement displays or supermarket shelves. It will be accessible wherever you find a hardware device with microphone and loudspeaker. All hardware will be connected to the Internet; and through the cloud, you can access your AI Personal Assistant from any location and any device. That’s why you don’t need to carry smartphones in your pocket. It will just become unnecessary. All processes will happen in the cloud and you will only need a simple voice interface through a connected device.
What is needed to make this possible? There are 6 major technology developments that will make this possible:
1. 100 % Internet access
There will be Internet at any place, in any building, in any vehicle, on ships in the sea and high on the mountains, too. Just anywhere we live, work and travel and we will not talk about being connected anymore. Just like breathing oxygen, which you unintentionally and automatically do will become how we use the Internet. It will be unconditioned and natural, because it will be everywhere, covering the 100% of the world.
2. Processor power
Light-based Processors with optical gates will be 100.000x more powerful than we see today with CPU technology. It will be possible to analyze millions of happenings around us in real time, which is called the context analysis.
3. Data transfer rate
In 2030 every data interaction will happen in absolute real time. There will be no more download times like today. No matter if we talk about movie streams or other big data packages. Today we use 100 Mbit connections. But standards for 100 Gigabit Ethernet have already been ratified. In 2030 people will have 100 Gigabit lines to homes and offices, to public locations and in mobile networks.
4. Data storage
In 2000 a 30GB drive cost 100€, and in 2015 you could buy a 3TB drive for 100€. That´s about 100x more disk space per every Euro spent. Things are going to improve much faster than ever, so that in 2030 we will pay a couple of Euros for Petabytes of storage space. We will store huge data history of anything we do at any second of our life that will make more reliable predictions possible and deliver personalized services in a quality like we cannot imagine today.
5. Smart Software or Neuronal Networks
Super smart software and more efficient algorithms will be able to analyze billions of processes in milliseconds and categorize on its own. That means for example that car traffic will be without accidents. Weather forecasts will be so precise that you will know more or less which minute the rain will start falling.
6. Connected world
Many call it today the Internet of things. Everything will be connected, cars, buildings, whole cities. Maybe it’s easier to understand by saying, more or less any kind of connected thing will become part of a big network or system.
That reminds me of a song from 1992 by Stereo MCs and it’s called Connected. It says:
“Gonna get myself, I’m gonna get myself, gonna get myself connected
I ain’t gonna go blind, For the light which is reflected”
And because of that connected complexity, you will need an AI personal assistant that can handle all the connected systems and devices, people and locations, products and services. It will count many hundred million things connected to you as a single person and no human brain can handle that without an AI assistant. It will help you make better decisions, but it will protect you from everything you don’t want to be confronted with., no matter what kind of information or message is trying to get through to you. The AI personal assistant will be your guard; a gatekeeper to protect you from all you don´t want; and gigaaa is building the technology for it. Stay tuned and follow our progress.
In my next post, I will talk about how AI assistants like gigaaa will help our everyday decision-making and the reasons why this technology is becoming a Gatekeeper that will change the economy on a global level.
I still have a lot to tell you. See you next week. Enjoy your first week of November. Life is beautiful!
“Life is gigaaa!”
