New Single Feel Better OUT NOW

How did the band start out?

We first started playing music together circa 5 years ago. Our mutual love of playing instruments and general interests in music drew us together. We started off just getting together to jam every week and when we realised we could actually play at a good enough standard, we decided to take things more seriously. At this point, we were just a three-piece!

What do you feel the main challenges are as an emerging band?

There are so many challenges. We think just getting yourself established and heard by…

Prog rock band Hats Off Gentlemen It’s Adequate (led by vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/producer Malcolm Galloway and bassist/multi-instrumentalist/backing vocalist/co-producer Mark Gatland) have been building a cult following for their finely crafted and eclectic concept albums for several years, but things really took off for them after a an injury in another band led to a last-minute call-up to play at Hard Rock Hell’s Prog Festival in Wales, one of the world’s biggest indoor progressive rock events, in November 2017. …

LA based guitarist and session musician John DePatie is no stranger to performing in front of large crowds. With an exciting career spouting 20+ years he has shared stages with some of the greats… Nancy Sinatra, Jarvis Cocker, Leif Garrett, and Little Steven. His acoustic range and live talent have led to several EP releases and collaborations. He hopes to continue his successful strike this year, with a new album due for release on Plus+Tone Records. I chatted to John about the history of guitar music, performing with his musical idols and connecting with new audiences.

Hey John! Please, can…

This week we are premiering the latest single release titled ‘Heat Of The Fire’ from American outfit The Good Neighbors. The Good Neighbors are a three piece alternative\indie-rock outfit that consist of members Connor Getz (Guitar/Vocals), David Delvalle (Bass guitar/Vocals) and Jacob Frasier (Drums). Their latest release is a departure from their slightly darker content of old, as they see their style shift to a more vibrant tone that continues the development and explorative nature that the band pride themselves on..

We caught up with the band for this release, allowing you to get to know the three-piece and read…

are a transatlantic pop folk duo, marrying together the soft melodic tones of soulful Americana alongside infusions of classic acoustic guitar beats. When it comes to writing an original song LOZT have totally owned their art, producing moving and real songs that perfectly capture their experiences with an unmistakably catchy chorus. The duo have self-released their debut EP, I Want You, the product of a two-year adventure the two have undergone together.

Gigride caught up with vocalist Lauren Scudder back in December of 2017 when the two were hard at work, playing shows around London and nearby cities in the…

On 3 April, 2018, Spotify shares went live on the New York Stock Exchange, marking a milestone moment for the streaming company and the music industry as a whole. At the end of its first trading day, Reuters reported that Spotify shares were worth $149.01 each, giving the company a valuation of $26.5 billion. Spotify and other streaming services have been instrumental in the recorded music industry’s recovery, generating $7.4 billion of the industry’s $17.4 billion in revenue from 2017, its highest in nine years, according to Midia Research.

Though Spotify has been pivotal in the music industry’s recalibration for…

I recently conducted an interview with singer/songwriter Tiger Lilly about her career aspirations, how she copes with Borderline Personality Disorder and the origin of her stage name. This article, I hope, will be the first in a series of pieces focusing on mental health in music.

I can see from your social media profile that you are both an award-winning singer/songwriter and an actress. This is very impressive for someone who has openly stated, on numerous occasions, that they suffer from a debilitating mental health issue in Borderline Personality Disorder. I think the ambition you have is laudable, but I…

Live music will draw a crowd of fans out on any day of the week if the band playing has built enough excitement around themselves. Such was the case on a Wednesday, the 23rd of May, when I visited KOKO in Camden to see ISLAND play their biggest headliner to date, and the last show of their UK tour.

Eastern Barbers

The first band on the bill was Eastern Barbers, a contemporary jazz five-piece from South London. They opened with an instrumental track that set a laid-back, atmospheric tone for the rest of their set. …

Husband and Wife Duo New Portals are pioneers in creating label-less Pop for all… Think dreamy sounds that remind you of bright Sunday Mornings in the country. With Ruth on lead vocals and percussion and Mike on vocals, synth and keyboards the two have been making waves across online streaming and have received accolades from Radio 1 and The Guardian. New Portals chatted to Gigride about lessons learned in the music industry and their proudest moments so far…

The Sebright Arms, a two-tiered public house in Hackney, played host to a showcase event for Leeds-based Ghost Road Management’s mini tour of London, Chatham and Brighton. The gigs, predominantly featuring female musicians, hired a total of eight bands to represent them over three consecutive evenings in early April.

Weekend Recovery

Lori, the singer from opening act Weekend Recovery, personally invited me and at one point completely ruined a video I was taking with a request to dance. One never turns down that kind of offer!

I arrived ten minutes late to find the first band already tearing through their set in…
