A memorable trip to Ayyappanmudi — HINDU temple of Lord AYYAPPA, Kothamangalam, Kerala, India

On 29th January, I visited Ayyappanmudi, a Hindu temple on top of rocky mountain near kothamangalam town, Eranakulam district, Kerala, India.

The deity here is Lord Ayyappa, I visited this temple along with my good friend Rajan ji.

He told me about this beautiful temple and I wanted to visit. You need to climb uphill the rocky mountain.

The temple is located on top of the mountain, you can have a panoramic view of the low lying areas from there.

The mountain stretch spreads over 2–3 km, we walked over the same for one hour , it was a fantastic experience.

Not much information is available about this place in the internet, not even the local people know about it much.

There are 2 half built houses below the rocky mountain. It looks like GHOST HOUSES. The overall look of the place is wonderful. Here are some more photos.

How to reach this place?

While travelling from Cochin to Munnar, you find Kothamangalam town. Take a trip to keerampara, a nearby place and ask for Ayyppanmudy to locals, they will guide you. This place is about 10km from Kothamangalam town.

You can spend one full day here, walking on the rocky mountain, having fantastic view of the nearby places. There is a shop down the hill where you can have lemon soda, water, snacks etc.

My aim is to go to offbeat destinations and write about them. I want to give information to travelers who want to travel to offbeat destinations and enjoy life.

I thank my dearest friend Rajan ji for taking me to this wonderful place and showing the beauty of this area and Ayyappa temple. If Lord Ayyappa allow, I will visit this temple again and have darshan.
