Me (Gijo Vijayan) at Ayakkad Village — my native place.

Hello Friends

I am Gijo Vijayan, blogger, author and entrepreneur from INDIA. I am an avid traveller and I write blogs about lessr known places all over India.

I live at Ayakkad village, which is located at Eranakulam District, Kerala, INDIA.

Given below are the photos of Rubber tree plantation behind my home. Latex is collected these trees, then processed into thin rubber sheets, which then dried and sent to factories that manufacture rubber products like tyres, gloves etc.

I want to expose the beauty of this Village to the outside world. My family is living in this village from 1991 on wards.

Ayakkad is full of talented people. Famous artist — “KNG “ aka K N Gopalakrishnan lives here. He make good paintings and sing well. There are many other people too who are engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs, film makers etc.

Pradeep Kumar — Entreprenur from Ayakkad, he make food products.

Mr.Pradeep Kumar owns a small coconut mill at Ayakkad. I buy coconut oil from him. It is the purest coconut oil I ever used. Other than coconut oil he also has chilli powder, rice flour, ellenna etc. The name of the company is “Thrikkariyoor Food Products”.He also has a small spice garden,where he developed various varieties of green pepper. Ayakkad junction about three kilometers from Kothamangalam town. In between there is a small village town called Thrikkariyoor, famous for its Mahadeva Shiv temple (Hindu Temple).

There are few shops at Ayakkad Junction, from Ayakkad, one route goes to “Kottappady” another to “Vettilappara” and “Uppukandom” and “Ayiroor padam. There is a hospital at “Ayiroor padam to treat the mentally challenged people.

Ayakkad village is full of greenery. Families are living here for generations together and there is a very good realtion between people here.

THERE is a School, 2 Hindu Temples at Ayakkad. People live in independant houses surrounded with greenery. The agriculture includes Rubber, coffee, Banana Plantation, paddy and vegitables.

In this village you will find atleast one member from each family working in middle east, Euurpe or outside the State.

Ayakkad is my village. It lives in my heart, I am close to many families here. Most of them are financially sound and this village is almost 100% literate.

People live in harmony and there always a quietness here, which I love.

Just walking through the lonely village roads itself excites me. Some local people may think that I am mad. But I really enjoy travlling in Ayakkad Village. People ask me, “What is there to see here” ? I keep mum. I want to show to the outside world how “Ayakkad” my village looks like.
