The Gilbert Goanna Tree Planting Fund offers 20,000A bounty in NFT hackathon.
The Gilbert Goanna Tree fund has today launched an initiative that will provide 20,000A to an emerging artist to collaborate with them on an innovative new NFT project.
The successful artist will be supported to develop their work into a series of 1000 unique 1/1 NFTs. The NFTs will be used to raise money for The Fund via a public sale and also serve as rewards to acknowledge high value donations.
“The utility these NFTs will hold is what truly excites me. The NFT owners will get to vote on which Algorand Defi protocols the Tree fund will invest in and also vote on which tree planting projects the fund will support. I am also super thrilled to be part of the creative process and support artists on Algorand. What an honor !” Says Kavitha Palani, AK Foundation.
In addition to the 20,000A bounty, the successful artist will also get the opportunity to work alongside Al Goanna project lead, Benji, who will be acting as a mentor, helping them to bring their vision to life.
“I’m excited to discover new creators and can’t wait to see what submissions we receive. Our goal is to create an NFT series of the highest standard and to provide a platform for the artist to launch future works on Algorand.” said Benji.
The open brief requires the work to clearly reference the environmental efforts and tree planting objectives of the fund, encouraging an innovative and creative approach.
Submissions are encouraged from all types of artists and technical support will be available in regards to generative scripts, minting and meta data allowing the artist to focus purely on the creative side of the project.
In addition to the 20,000A, NFT prizes will be available for shortlisted candidates.
Submissions can be made via the website with the deadline being 15th April.

The Gilbert Goanna Tree Planting Fund is Algorand’s first dedicated impact fund, administered by the AK Foundation. The capital that is raised via donations and community initiatives is then invested through various de-fi protocols. The generated yield is then used to directly support conservation efforts and tree planting projects around the globe. This innovative approach allows the fund to be truly sustainable both in terms of the projects it supports and also its own longevity.
