John the Baptist continued …

With such a zeal for the Lord I was called “The Preacher” and “Little John the Baptist”. I was hungry for the word of God. I read my Bible everyday! Looking up verses and seeing all these wonderful promises. Reading stories of ‘Heroes of Men and Women’ from the Bible was refreshing and exciting. For instance, Moses. Here was someone called by God to lead a nation out of slavery and bondage to a land flowing with milk and honey. “FREEDOM” was the theme of this story. Seeing the struggles that led to victory gives hope that through perseverance and consistency all things are possible, to #nevergiveup! Funny how those words would come later in my life for a business I become a part of :)

David was another favorite Man of God from the Bible. Here we see a man with many faults, sinned against God and man many times over, yet despise all this he was still a man after God’s own heart and through his lineage Jesus was born … funny how things work out, don’t you think?

I can go on and on but know this, it was these stories that inspired me. How often do we feel inadequate to move forward in life because of our insecurities? These men and women were not perfect in anyway, so what kept them going? It was a personal relationship! They knew deep within their heart of hearts it was not about them but about HIM! He (God) gives us strength, His mercy endures forever! It’s through Him and by Him we live and move and have our being!

Every opportunity I was given to share the gospel message I was there to present it. I was not afraid to talk about Jesus and who He was. I just knew I was redeemed and going to heaven and wanted everyone to meet me there one day. Spreading the message back then was easy. Why? you may ask? I was not afraid of rejection. The simple act of Faith was easy to grasp and understand back then, I wasn’t clouded by the world and the confusion of different doctrinal beliefs. I knew one thing and one thing only, Jesus LOVES me! Again, this was the message I knew and could share without a second thought. Today we have taken this simple message and made it more complicated than it needs to be. WE add more to the simple truth and in turn those who hear the message turn away. It’s not complicated. John was at the Jordan River and spoke one simple message, “Repent and Believe”! That’s it, nothing more or less. Maybe we should try the same message today, what do you think ;-)
