Bernie Vs. Hillary= Democracy Vs. Oligarchy=Why We Should Be Terrified
This election has really opened my eyes to the state of democracy- and how very UN-Innocent the Democratic Party is in our slide into Oligarchy.
And now, as a while, female, life-long Democrat, I would be utterly terrified IF I Thought Hillary Clinton was going to win the Democratic nomination.
It’s not because she made her entire personal, 150+ million dollar fortune since 2001, and up until a month before announcing her campaign, by making closed door speeches to Wall Street and other “special interests” (like private prisons, fossil fuel companies, credit card companies, foreign governments, to name a few…) who continue to screw over/erase the middle class and poor…as well as to fund her (& all of the Republican’s campaign(s), against the entirely small-donor, grassroots campaign of Bernie Sanders.
It’s not because the Clintons were the ones who moved the democrat party to the right on the first place, by pushing for and enacting Welfare reform, Mass Incarceration, World-wide Fracking, Coups/Oligarchy, turning away endangered South American children, & NAFTA, Repealing the needed Glass-Steagall (and refusing to reinstate it, even though those banks are 5 times bigger now than before the crash), or destroyed the 20+ year old unbiased, anti-monopoly media act in 1996 (or that that now allows about 5 people to own all of the mainstream media, who, what do you know, are ridiculously biased in her favor.)
It’s not that she routinely changes positions about everything from the environment to segregation to mass incarceration but never goes far enough to actually help people, as Bernie Sanders does by supporting a $15 minimum wage, an aggressive environment/infrastructure- job-creating plan , free college, actually holding Wall Street accountable, automatic voter registration, a robust safety-net- I could go on and on. The point is, Hillary never goes far enough, and never will. Do you really think she would reform campaign finance, even though she overwhelmingly relies on Wall Street and other named interests? As the data goes, average voters have zero say in what our “representatives” do anymore, since Reagan, but most especially since Citizens United. The “special interests” finance more than 80% of Hillary’s personal campaign, + at least two SuperPacs. She refuses to disclose speeches she gave to said “interests” as recently as a MONTH before announcing her campaign.
Those things, however dauntingly frightening, are NOT what REALLY scare me.
No, the SCARY thing is, instead of demanding she release the transcripts (go to releasethetranscripts.com to see just how MANY transcripts there ARE, and sign the petition), instead, some (many?) Hillary supporters are actually actively trying to silence the movement to hold her accountable, for whatever promises she undoubtedly made to Wall Street! Because “everybody does it,” and “politics is a dirty game?!” Really, people?
THAT is what scares the shit out of ME about this election anyway (besides South Carolina Already being too cut off from the internet- at only about 30%- to even be able to get past the Oligarchy-owned, pro- Hillary media enough to understand this.)
No the scariest part isn’t even the alarming, disturbing fact that so many people are intentionally misled. It’s the ones who actively diffuse democracy, by not holding her accountable for being SO VERY accountable to her donors, instead of US. That are SO COMPLACENT with living in an OLIGARCHY, that they actively fight against anything better, deeming it “pie in the sky” even though it would have been considered COMMON LOGIC not 40 years ago. They actively fight against holding her accountable, even though our environment, infrastructure, and middle class cannot afford another four years of devastating republican giveaways to the corporations and slashes to the safety-net in the name of “compromise.”
In short, people are actively fighting against the opportunity that Bernie Sanders is offering us to reclaim our democracy. THAT is utterly terrifying.
Is it in the name of fear? Misguided sexism (we women Bernie supporters get a lot of SHIT for fighting oligarchy. I guess we’re supposed to be stupid….)?
I have been optimistic thus far, assuming the greater good will win over. But today, I am terrified at the extent the media is shaping a low-information, and thus, extremely Red, Republican State- as any kind of real indicator as to the heart of the Democrat party. I happen to think we’re still with Roosevelt,economically- who was a lot more like Bernie- but we’ve just been getting hood-winked, more and more for years , starting with the Clinton’s adoption of Reagan’s trickle-down political fantasy…
Anyway, yes, the world is a scary place. Politics have become scary. Our country has become a corporate oligarchy…
This year, we are lucky enough to have a RARE candidate, who is NOT corrupted by money, and who will undoubtedly fight for us, as his positions have not changed for the 30+ years he’s been in office. Bernie Sanders has always been for the people, and for justice- Hillary is about herself, and putting and keeping people down, to make money.
Meanwhile, we are lucky enough to have a leader who is willing to lead us out of this abyss of oligarchy, and on our own small dollars alone!!! And What makes you think we’ll ever have this opportunity again, if we pass it up?! We will hire a woman, eventually, who is NOT corrupt. But if we don’t get BERNIE NOW, we’ll be SORRIER than we can ever even imagine. This is our last chance. It (the Oligarchy) will only get worse as long as we’re complacent, and God-forbid, defending it, as Hillary has manipulated thousands into doing. The internet may go the way of the mainstream media by the next election, effectively nixing our chances…. EVEN IF we would be so lucky again as to have the choice of a viable and UN-Corrupt candidate, which is not likely, given all the money there is to be made, in a country with corrupted politics…
I, for one, am among the growing number of Democrats to declare “Bernie or Bust!” Because I understand that if he doesn’t win then it’s because of lies and misconceptions- mostly started by Hillary herself. And that deceit would cost us more than we can afford to lose. The ideology that divides Bernie and Hillary is actually far wider than the ideology that divides Hillary from the republican candidates.
Bernie is our only hope, and I refuse to vote for any of those other corrupt, pro-oligarchy candidates, even if I have to write Bernie in. But I still like to think we, as a whole, are too smart for me to have to do that….please prove me right on Tues, VT, MASS, MINN, CO, AK OK, TX, GA, TN, AL, VA!!!! Democracy versus Oligarchy!!!! BERNIE is the ONLY candidate FOR THE PEOPLE!!!! Let’s WIN this, if for nothing else, than to, like, SAVE THE FUTURE!!!
