Diary of a Pre-Trans Woman, Part 1: Exploration
Amanda Roman

Thank you so much for sharing. There’s a lot of familiar feelings in your story; especially the Father’s Day part. My kids still call me Daddy even though I’ve been out for several years. It feels really strange in private, and incredibly jarring in public. The other day one of my daughter’s friends said “Hi, [daughter]’s mom” when I was dropping my kid at school. It felt absolutely amazing.

But I know my daughter has explained to the other kids that I’m “daddy” at home and “mom” to everyone else. I don’t want to try and force them, and I’m (mostly) happy being Daddy. But it’d be awesome to have a Mother’s Day at some point.
