1st Peter Chapter 2— more take away

Chapter 2:9–10 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.”

Aren’t you glad Christ died on the cross for us and rose again from the dead. Because he did, we have the mighty gospel and the gift of salvation which brings many benefits. Our sins are washed away and we now come directly to God. In the Old Testament times, people could not approach God directly. A priest acted as intermediary between God and sinful man and before that Moses was the intermediary. Now we come directly into God’s presence without fear (Hebrews 4:16). Note also with that freedom comes responsibiity. Being united with Christ in his body, we join in his priestly work of reconciling God and man. I.E. we have the command to share the Gospel.

We have been called to represent him to others. Remember that our value comes from being one of God’s children, not from what we can achieve. Our worth comes from what God does, not because of what we do.
