Joel Chapter 2 — take away

Joel 2:1–2 “Blow ye the trupet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand; A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness…there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it…” Joel warns of the approaching judgment.

Joel 2:12–27 God calls the people to return to the Lord and He will restore the land and the people will be blessed. Verse 12 “…return ye even to me with all your heart and with fasting, and with weeping…” Verse 18 “Then will the Lord be jealous for his land, and pity his people.” Verse 20 “But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate…” Verse 25 “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten…my great army which I sent among you. Verse 27 “And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.”

Joel 2:28 -29–30 “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.” Some commentaries and some religions try to claim this section of scripture to mean we are in the millenium now and that their people are having dreams and visions. As JVM expains we are not in the millenium because all the Jews are not back in the land, they are not having bumper crops, water is not abundant, and they are not living in peace with no enemies. All this will probably happen during the last half of the tribulation period.

Joel 2:31 “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the mood into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come.” I wonder if this will be one of the blood moons of a moon eclipse or a unique turning by God. We have a bood moon coming up this September 2015 and it is on a Jewish feast day. When this has happened in the past, an historical event has happened to Israel. This says BEFORE the day of the Lord……and it says the moon red unlike the signs in the heavens just before the Second Advent when it says in Joel 2:10 and Matthew 24:29 the sun and moon will be DARK and the heavens shall be shaken…and then the Son of man shall appear. This could be a very strong sign that the day of the Lord is very near…be ready.
