Rudy Giuliani is Trying to Normalize Talking Like a Sexual Predator and Shame You Into Being Silent About Trump’s Remarks: Don’t Let Him

Rudy Giuliani’s version of the real world: talking like a sexual predator is cool, hilarious, normal, and makes you really tough. If you are offended when other men talk about sexually assaulting women, you are soft and delusional about how things really work. You should feel bad about yourself and be silent.

That’s a pretty bleak vision of the real world.

- As someone blessed with a loving wife, a loving mother, two loving sisters, a whole squad of amazing female cousins and in-laws, the best female friends in the world, and amazing female co-workers, this video makes me tremble with rage

-As someone who knows several amazing, strong women who are very close to me who have been raped and/or sexually abused, this video makes me tremble with rage.

-As someone who teaches young women in grades 6–12 who are entering a world where people like Rudy Giuliani have power, this video makes me tremble with rage.

Let me be very fucking clear here: encouraging other men to, “Grab them by the pussy” is not normal. Attempting to make this kind of thing normal is very dangerous. Trump and Giuliani are men in their 70s trying to make you think that all men talk like this. I have never once in my life seen men talk like this in a private conversation, locker room or otherwise.

I honestly don’t give a shit who you are voting for and whether or not you like Hillary Clinton. It doesn’t matter. Trump’s comments are disgusting, period.

But perhaps even more disgusting and upsetting is the reaction of people like Giuliani trying to downplay their significance and normalize the comments.

Trumps remarks were/are not normal. If being enraged by them makes me a soft, nerdy, liberal dweeb, I’m happy to be the butt of any and all jokes. But I will not let my voice be silenced. If you love and respect the women in your life, don’t let your voice be silenced either.
