Well written, and certainly reflects some of the devastating results of a society in pursuit of a self-centered happiness, whilst pointing the way to a much more constructive motivation. Within this, I feel we also need to ask a question of a more specific nature ; if being useful and making a difference are important, what are the dimensions of our society and our future that are of importance to be useful too? In other words, being useful and making a difference are motives that call for a context of value. We can be useful to things that can be destructive to our future. This has many evidence.
