About Me

What’s your name, major and hometown?

Name: Ginu
Major: Marketing
Hometown: Skokie, IL

What would be the most useful thing for me to know about you as a student?

I learn best with real-life examples, so I understand how the topics I’m learning about apply to the world today.

What do you wish was different about school?

I wish colleges made it easier for students to figure out what they want to do post-grad. Instead of trying to fit a lot of classes into four years, I think colleges should allow students to explore more areas of study they could go into.

Describe a moment in school last year when you felt really engaged. Why do you think that moment was such a positive one for you?

In my Intro to Marketing class, I felt really engaged when we watched videos about real-life examples relating to the topics we discussed in class. It showed me how relevant marketing is in today’s world.

What do you think teachers think about you, and what do you wish they’d think about you?

I think teachers sometimes think I understand the material well when I’m actually struggling with it. I wish they’d know this, so it’d be easier for me to seek help.

Tell me about a teacher who you feel knew you well. What kind of student were you in his or her class? What did he or she do to get to know you?

I had an English teacher in high school who I felt knew me well. I was a productive student in class, and got creative with assignments. We would both recommend books to one another and talk about what we’re currently reading, which helped us get to know one another.

If you could build a school, what would it look like?

I would build a school with sustainable buildings in a large city. It would also be a very small school, so everyone would be able to get to know one another. It would focus on community and making a difference where it’s located.

What do you wish I would ask you so that I can be a good teacher for you?

I think rubrics clearly laying out what the expectations for assignments and projects are will be helpful.

What makes a weekend day great for you?

A great weekend for me is having fun yet also being productive. Setting aside time to do school work or house work but also having time to do something exciting in the city is the best.

Anything else to add?

Finally, include a photo of yourself in your Medium post so I can start putting faces to names.
